I've always wanted to get into batik, and I got some Christmas money, so I thought I'd order supplies. I've done a bunch of research online about it, and I love the tjanting copper prints the Javanese use with the wax to make designs. Making my own copper or brass tjantings is really out of the question, so I was wondering if I could use wood or linoleum block prints instead. Does anybody know anything about this? Do the carved parts need to be really deep? Will linoleum react badly with really hot wax?
